To help you register successfully for the Fall 2010 semester, here are the steps that you need to follow:
STEP 1 - JOHN JAY COLLEGE E-MAIL
You receive a free John Jay College e-mail account when you are accepted to the College. Your e-mail address is your firstname.lastname@jjay.cuny.edu. The initial login password is “jj” plus the last four digits of your Social Security number or CUNY ID number (e.g. jj1234). To activate your account go to www.jjay.cuny.edu, click on Webmail located at the top right side of the home page, then click on Student E-Mail, and login using your John Jay e-mail username and password. We will be communicating very important information to you via e-mail. Please check your John Jay e-mail on a daily basis. If you have a common name, your John Jay College e-mail address will have a number after your name (i.e. jane.doe2@jjay.cuny.edu). To find out your exact e-mail user name, click on the "My Profile" link after logging onto the CUNY Portal. For any questions about or problems with your John Jay e-mail account, please contact the DoIT Helpdesk at 212-237-8200 or helpdesk@jjay.cuny.edu.
STEP 2 - ADMISSIONS CONFIRMATION FORM
We will send you an e-mail asking you to confirm your acceptance at John Jay College online. Please make sure to check your John Jay College e-mail on a daily basis.
STEP 3 - IMMUNIZATION
Before you register for classes, you will need to submit proof that you’ve been immunized for measles, mumps and rubella and complete the meningitis form. Please download, complete and submit the immunization form to the College’s Health Office. If you have any questions, please call the Health Office at (212) 237-8052 or e-mail at healthoffice@jjay.cuny.edu.
STEP 4 - TESTING
Unless you are exempt, you will receive a letter from our Testing Office notifying you of your date and time to take the CUNY Assessment Tests. If you cannot make the scheduled date, you must contact the Testing Office to reschedule. You CANNOT register if you have not taken the CUNY Assessment Tests. If you are exempt, you will still need to take the CUNY Math Assessment Test for placement purposes. Prepare to take the CUNY Assessment Test as soon as possible. Make sure that you are familiar with the CUNY Assessment Test and have received enough practice before your test date. Visit here for information, tips and resources. Additionally, you may contact the Testing Office at (212) 237- 8108 or testing@jjay.cuny.edu.

STEP 8 - ADMISSIONS INFORMATION
High School Diploma: Upon graduation, please bring in your original high school diploma to the Admissions Office. Wallet-size diplomas cannot be accepted. You cannot attend classes if we do not receive your diploma.
In-State Tuition Eligibility: If you receive a letter requesting that you provide proof of New York State residency, immigration status and/or citizenship status, please bring the appropriate documentation to the Admissions Office. If we do not receive this information before you register, you will be billed the out-of-state tuition rate of $415 per credit. The Undergraduate Tuition and Fees Schedule is available here. There are 2 rates of tuition; in-state and out-of-state. In most cases, to be eligible as a resident for tuition purposes, you must have continuously resided in New York State for a period of at least 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the first day of classes, and be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident or other qualifying immigration status. If you are under the age of 24, you are generally considered dependent upon your custodial parent(s) or legal guardian(s) and proof of residency is determined (in most cases) by their residency status.
