John Jay College of Criminal Justice welcomes students from around the world.  These students come to John Jay because of our international reputation for offering the very best education for the study of justice, focusing on the themes of fairness, equity, and justice under the law as well as emphasizing international perspectives in the areas of law and justice.  Additional details are available through CUNY. 

Here are the steps:

1.    Explore our majors and minors.  You’ll find interesting choices ,  many focused on criminal justice and public service.

2.   Visit us.  We offer a range of optional admission events, as well as campus tours. 

3.   Complete your applicationApply online.
English translations of material in other languages must be submitted with the application.

4.   If your native language is not English and you live outside the United States, you must take the Test of English as a Second Language (TOEFL).  Have your scores sent directly to CUNY Admissions.  Our code is 2950.  A score of 500 is required for the paper-based test; 173 for the computer-based test and 61 for the internet based test.

5.   Have official transcripts of your secondary schooling sent directly to CUNY. 
If you are a transfer student, have official copies of all of your post-secondary transcripts sent directly from your institutions to the CUNY application center.  Note that once you’re accepted as a transfer student, you must provide official course descriptions and syllabi of work already completed at the postsecondary level for evaluation by the College.

7.  Upon acceptance, you may be required to obtain F-1 student visa statusIf you are in need of an F-1 visa or F-1 status, you will receive information by mail upon receiving an acceptance package from the college.
